Successful Internet Marketing
Ingredient of successful internet marketing – the Mindset
There’s a radio program called “Fresh Air” from WHYY that’s mighty entertaining. I love hearing surprising stories like insiders talking about Dung Beetles, Asperger’s Syndrome, and the near-collapse of the US economy. I don’t get to listen to Fresh Air everyday. But when I do there’s always something interesting going on, like the book review on a mystery trilogy by a Swedish writer Stieg Larsson.
Then one day I hear they have a Country Music Special. Each day for one week the hostess Terry Gross interviews a guest who’s a country music singer. I never know much about American Country Music before. Being born and raised in a far eastern Asian country, there’s not much connects me to that style of music.
But I listen to it and hear this song called “Saginaw, Michigan” sung by Jimmie Dale Gilmore. The melody and the guitar sound good. Couple of other songs by him also sound interesting. So I look it up and find that it is his album “Come On Back”. The library happens to have a copy of the CD.
I borrow a copy and put this album into the CD player and put on my headphones. The songs sound good, then they sound better, then I start to sing along and my head nodding and feet tapping. What’s going on? I never liked country music before!
It’s the mindset thing. The more you listen to something, the more it starts to make sense, or make music, as in the case of “Saginaw, Michigan” for me.
With Internet Marketing, like everything else, the success is strongly tied to the mindset. To succeed you need the mindset of success – believing you can do it and actually do it. Only problem is that the mindset is not so easily established. You may have it in your mind for a few days, and then it’s gone. It did not “set” in your mind.
So the trick is repetition. Listen to something again and again, till it’s not only sensible, but becomes second-nature to you. Then you’ve got a Mindset. This applies to anything, marketing action-plan or whatever. Have the strategy or tactics play out in your head over and over. You will have the mindset of success on that strategy.
So what I do is to use a MP3 player, download a few mp3 recordings of training material by gurus that I like, put them into the player and listen to them. These MP3 players are one of the great gifts modern technology has brought us. I see kids listen to their MP3 in many places. Their mindsets are probably whatever the pop music they are listening to.
Here’s one “Mindset” that may interest you. It’s called the $100-a-Day-Challenge, created by Jay Boyer who I met at the Practical Profits seminar in Las Vegas. He’s a real down-to-earth guy with solid products. This product contains a set of MP3 recordings of successful Internet Marketers talking about how to start from scratch, with nothing, to earning $100 a day in 30 days. Jay asked these gurus how they would do it if they were to start all over again from zilch and they answered. Now that’s something worth listening to repeatedly to build up your own mindset, isnt’ it?

How to boost your productivity on Internet Marketing
The last time I went over the 32 reports by Jason Fladlien there were 2 nuggets that jumped out at me bright and shiny.
One is Study-to-Action-Ratio, from the “Instant Action on Any Info Product” report. The other one is Is-Today-a-Success, from the “Peak Productivity” report.
Study-to-Action-Ratio (SAR)
A beginner comes across a product called “Twitter Traffic Tornado”. He buys it and downloads the videos training material into a folder somewhere in his computer. When he gets free a few days later he comes back looking for this folder where the videos are. He watches the first training video and surfs the Internet at the same time. By the time he starts to watch the seventh video he notices another new product launch from one of the email lists he subscribes to. This one is “Tornado Twitter Traffic”. He clicks over to the sales page and likes what he finds there… After a few moments of internal struggle, he clicks on the BUY button.
His SAR score is 5-0. He spends 5 hours studying, 0 hour taking action to implement what he learns, because he wants to learn more, from something else. The result is $0 return to his investment of time and money.
A mid-level marketer comes across a product called “Twitter Tornado Traffic” and buys it and downloads the training videos. When he gets around to watching the videos, he watches it first to get the idea. Then he watches it again. This time he follows the steps and do what the videos is showing as he watches it.
His SAR score is 2-1. He spends 4 hours studying and 2 hours taking action. His investment return is ${not enough data}.
An advanced marketer comes across a marketing strategy called “Traffic Tornado Twitter”. He studies the material and thinks about how he can incorporate it into his existing work. He puts it to action when he figures out the easiest way to so. Having done that, he does it again on a different product of his. By then he comes up with a twist to the new method, and he tries out the twist.
His SAR score is 1-6. Six hours of action for each hour of study. His investment return? Probably what’s shown in the PROOF section of the sales page of his product.
Isn’t that amazing? I would want my SAR to go from 0-6 to 2-1 to 1-2 and beyond, wouldn’t you?
Is-Today-a-Success? (ITS)
To make the long story short, a short-term goal works better than a long-term goal.
What is actually accomplished in one day counts more than what is planned to accomplish in two months.
At the beginning of the day, think of a few tasks you want to get done. By the end of the day, look to see if they are done. If they are done, then yes, today is a success. If they are not done, then today is not a success.
Your productivity will mushroom when you get more ITS yes. Is today a success? Yes. That’s how you will feel good and do better the next day. Start small, set simple easy tasks at the beginning.
I like this one a lot.

Internet Marketing Review
People read Internet Marketing Reviews to find a super-duper way to make money online. Among his 32 reports, Jason has 8 reports on MONEY-MAKING METHODS. One of these 8 reports jumps out at me. I like it as much as I like the Bourne Supremacy movie. It’s called 7 Dollar Fortune. Below is my low-fidelity reproduction of the report.
————————————————————
7 DOLLAR FORTUNE
Q: Can you make a fortune with $7 products?
A: Yes, if you follow the system here.
Q: Why $7? Won’t that take more work to make money than $97 products?
A: Not if you’ve seen the system explained in here.
Q: So what is your $7-product-fortune system?
A: It’s called One Problem, One Solution.
Q: Can you be more specific?
A: Yes. It goes like this: Find a hot topic, research to find a solution, write a 2-page step-by-step report of the solution. Sell this report for $7.
Q: That would only be $7. That’s far from a fortune.
A: Yes. $7 is not much. But you can sell lots of it by getting traffic. Because it’s a only short report so it can be done quickly. You create multiple such reports, each one selling $7. Do the math.
Q: Wait, you are talking about finding a hot topic, research, write a report, getting traffic. I do math. Doesn’t sound as easily or as quickly as you described.
A: But it is easy! Look,
Find a Hot Topic: Go to a forum of your niche, see what topic that has lots of people asking and discussing. That’s a hot topic. Here’s one example – how do you use the all-in-one-seo plugin to do Search-Engine-Optimization to your wordpress blog?
Research for Solution to the Topic: If you already know the solution, the research is minimal. If not, Google can take you to sources that have solutions. If you can’t find a solution through Google or library, move on to the next hot topic. Check out the forum’s questions. There’s no shortage of that.
Write a Report: With a solution in mind, explain it step by step. By breaking it down to step-by-step instructions, you may actually find it difficult to keep it down to less than 1200 words or 2 pages. In rare cases where you’re short, make it up by writing an alternative solution, again step-by-step.
Getting Traffic: Here’s one example. Find an affiliate who can drive traffic. Offer him or her 100% commission to sell your $7 report. The affiliate gets all the money but you get the buyers’ email addresses. Now you can drive traffic from this email list to your 2nd $7 report, and 3rd report… Oh, don’t just limit to one affiliate either.
Q: Alright, I get the idea. But how much money really can you make from this system?
A: That depends on how well you market the reports. But to put a hard number on it, say you sell 15 copies a month then it will be $105/mo. of income.
Q. I don’t call $105 a month a fortune, do you?
A. No. That’s from only one report. When you build up to 50 reports in a year, then it’s a respectable figure. You see the numbers? And there’s also other associate income from the back-end such as one-time-offer or upsell. There’s lots of ways to increase your profits from $7 reports. That’s the topic of another Jason’s report – 27 Tweaks.
